Dejan Josipovic

If you've ever tried to remove burnt food from a glass stove top, you know how difficult it can be. It may appear as though the food is permanently attached to the surface and will not budge no matter what is done. Removing burnt food off a stove top doesn't have to be difficult, though. Your stovetop can appear brand new again if you're patient and use some basic home materials.

How to Clean a Glass Stove Top: Grime, Food That Has Been Burned On, And More!

Avoid using abrasive cleaners or razor blades to scrape grime off your glass stove top, and remember to remove burnt food from the surface as soon as possible to prevent it from further bonding itself to the surface.

Before you begin cleaning your glass stove top, you should always wait until it has completely cooled off. This is true regardless of whether you are trying to remove burnt food from your glass stove top or restore its appearance to its original state.

What you can do to safely remove burnt food from a glass cooktop or stove top?

Cleaning a glass stove top with a natural solution is the quickest and cheapest way to get rid of burnt food. If your stove top has lost its lustre, you can bring it back to life with a little baking soda, some vinegar, or a mixture of the two! The most attractive feature of using just natural cleaners on your stove top? You most likely already have baking soda and vinegar on hand.

What you’ll need:

  • Baking Soda
  • Vinegar In a Spray Bottle
  • Large Bowl
  • Hot Water
  • Rags
  • Sponge
  • Plastic Scraper
  • Microfibre cloth
  • Rubber Gloves
  • Dish Soap

Put on some rubber gloves and get a bowl of hot water with a few drops of dish soap ready to use with baking soda to clean a burnt stove top.

Step 1 - After placing the rags in the bowl of hot water, sprinkle baking soda over the top of your stove. It is important to ensure that there is a sufficient amount of baking soda and that any stubborn messes or stains are completely covered.

Step 2 - Take the rags out of the bowl and squeeze the excess liquid out of them. Next, place the rags across the top of the baking soda that is on your stove. Wait anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes, the exact amount of time needed will depend on how dirty your glass stove top is.

Step 3 - Remove the rags and use them to pick up as much baking soda and debris as possible before setting them away.

Step 4 - If there is any excess water, baking soda, or filth on the stovetop, use the soft side of the sponge or a Magic Eraser to soak it up.

Step 5 - Buff the stove top with a microfiber cloth making circular motions to bring out its shine and eliminate any dust or debris that may still be there.

If necessary, use a plastic scraper to remove any food that is still stuck to the cooktops surface after following the steps outlined above.

Using Vinegar to clean a glass stove top

Vinegar is a natural degreaser, which makes it an excellent choice for cleaning stubborn burnt-on stains. To remove stains, fill a spray bottle with vinegar and apply it straight to the spot. After allowing it to work its magic for a few minutes, use a moist cloth to remove the stubborn stains caused by the burn.

When cleaning tougher messes caused by burnt-on residue, sprinkle baking soda over the affected areas and then spray vinegar over the baking soda. Baking soda and vinegar will help to loosen and remove the muck from the surface. Use a damp cloth to wipe it all away.

Make Your Cooktop look new again

The easiest approach to maintain the pristine appearance of a glass stove top is to wipe it down on a regular basis with vinegar and then wipe it dry. This will get rid of any crumbs or minor stains and return the sheen to the surface. Make sure to wipe up any spills on the stove top immediately to avoid permanent stains.
